Sacred Space

By LVA

Tears for generations of injustice
Buildings burning
Acts of ferocity
Walking down Lake Street
Garbage bag
Gloves
Mask
A broom
I witness the devastation
I pick up some trash
So much of it has been cleaned
Swept up
Respected by the larger community
The corner of George Floyd’s murder is surrounded in flowers
Stations of food and water and provisions for those in need are available for distribution
People take what they need
Others drop off for those in need
Sacred Space
Acts of ferocity become acts of love
Through devastation growth
Bleeds forth
After years of blood shed
After years of segregation
Injustice
Oppression
Suffering
Sacred Space lives
