There is so much going on in the world.
So many places you have to be.
So many things you must do.
So many people who desire your audience.
Emails, laundry, groceries, workouts, evening benefits, kids bed time stories, a new pair of shoes, a work deadline… all of it can be downright exhausting and often we feel we have to rush through from one thing to the next. And since we do it is easy to forget how much we really love the small things in our lives.
A daughter playing make believe, singing a song to herself about how much she loves her mom.
A hubby who calls on his way home from work and asks if he can stop to pick anything up.
A hug and thoughtful word from a dear friend.
A stranger who lets you merge into traffic with a wave and nod.
A big toe that makes it possible to do pretty much everything you do.
The universe popped me a challenging reminder to slow down when I broke my toe in two places last week. Unable to put any weight on it at all, I’ve spent the week relying on the kindness of others (people in truth are SO kind), taking it easy, and moving at a turtle’s pace on crutches.
You know what I figured out?
My toe may be small, but she is pretty damn important in my life.
Celebrate and promote the small things in your life. It is easy to take them for granted.
Trust me, you don’t want to.
Find something small and sweet in your life today and say “Thank you. I love you. You make me possible.”
Have a beautiful Friday!
