A good friend of mine reminded me of this tip today on a walk. There was an enlightened buddha that was approached and asked what he did before he achieved enlightenment. The answer was “I chopped wood and carried water”. The same person then asked. “Now that you are enlightened what do you do?” His answer. “I chop wood and carry water.” Certain things must be done. You never ARRIVE , this is a journey and you choose to live out your dream in every moment. Your enlightenment is finding beauty in the small things like chopping wood and carrying water. If you like this tip please tweet it or share with your friends.
Love this Lisa! Thanks for the reminder.
I also love the saying, “he who chops his own wood is twice warmed”
(random…but this post reminded me of it. My parents had this sign in our house growing up)
Ahh yes Sarah, and recently this story has changed. Now the Buddha’s answer is “before enlightenment, I updated my status on FB and retweeted my favorite link” AFTER enlightenment… ” I had a lot more followers”.
