Two weeks ago I broke my toe. In two places. On the joint.
Whew. Not fun. I was on crutches for two weeks. Bummer.
I had to cancel my October title fight in Belfast, Ireland.
Even. Bigger. Bummer.
There is no denying that it was broken. Had I told myself it wasn’t and not gone to the doctor for X-rays it still would have been broken. No belief otherwise would have changed my broken toe. You can’t control the facts of circumstance. Mine were….yep. It is broken.
As I write this I think about our Sati class cause for the month, Wellness Rocks- Cancer Survivor Fund. Patients who step into a doctor’s office after a biopsy and are told they have cancer are in an extremely difficult and emotional position. No amount of believing they don’t have cancer will change the fact that they do indeed have it.
So what of belief in something if no amount of it can really change the facts?
Actually, it is what you believe about those facts that makes the difference in your life.
Do you use your challenging circumstances to make positive changes? You can believe in the power of your mind and emotional state to bring about recovery and new opportunity even within sickness.
Our minds are one of the most powerful healing medicines available to us. Belief in healing and a daily dose of wellness activities can rapidly increase the rate of our recovery. It also improves our state of mind (re:feeling better) in the moment which lowers stress levels and allows our bodies to heal faster.
You may not be able to change the facts of what you are going through in your health life, but how you respond to them is something you can control. Healing is possible when you believe in complete wellness and you practice it as if…
For me that looks like taking care of my toe, icing it, listening to the doc, taking calcium to help the broken bones heal faster, and closing my eyes to see myself standing on a podium in December in Brazil with a gold medal around my neck, toe 100% healed.
What does it look like for you? I’d love to know. Leave a comment below and share how you are experiencing complete wellness even in the midst of the facts that tell a different story.
If you have a success story of healing with the practice of belief we’d love to hear it!
Check out our sati class for a cause here and join us for class this month.
