I’m feeling alright. Honestly, I feel more than alright.
This playlist has taken me through awesome feeling alright moments.
Will I always feel this way? I’m starting to think I can and here’s why.
WHEN LIFE IS AWESOME
This one is likely easy, right? When life is going your way it’s seamless to feel alright. However, I often do the ‘when will the shoe drop’ thing. Everything is going my way and I think, “this can’t last”. I start to look ahead and anxiously wait for when it’s gonna go wrong. But what if it never did. What if there was no such thing as wrong?
WHEN LIFE IS NOT AWESOME
So it all went wrong. Or did it? I’ve started to invite uncomfortable experiences because I can garner so many learnings from them. I do know ‘all things pass’ so I no longer feel like a tough thing will last forever. I’ve started to embrace these more difficult times of life as not wrong, but awesome opportunities for growth. It’s gonna sound crazy…I think feeling all the feels is actually alright. So I can always feel alright.
HOW THIS PLAYLIST WILL HELP YOU FEEL ALRIGHT
There are some great dance songs in this playlist, there are also great introspective songs. Even a few music only (no lyrics) which might take you to thoughtful spaces that help you feel alright.
A few of my favorites from this playlist:
Feel Alright- Haneri
The namesake of this playlist. I must’ve listened to this song a hundred times. It’s light and airy. “Take a breath”. She’s stuck in traffic and is still smiling. I need this reminder when I’m stuck in traffic too. The best is she says you can buy into the drama and the game but if you play a victim, nothing will change. This song holds crazy power to grow! Love the lightness and listen to the meaning in the lyrics.
Let me down slowly- Alec Benjamin
Ouch. Pain. He’s losing his love, and feeling hurt. I turned these lyrics inward. Thinking about how I’ve disappointed myself so many times, and it’s okay to give myself a little love and not be so hard on my past transgressions. I can let myself down slowly. I can give myself some sympathy.
Bloom- Troy Sivan
Ahhh, this song. Bloom. Saving yourself for the beauty of who you are. I used this song to turn inward too. I bloom for myself. I step forward into myself and I bloom, for myself. Play me like a love song. More self-love means more blooming.
We Are- Peter Bradley Adams
This song broke my heart into a million pieces. Then put them back together again. I listened to it over and over. I cried with it, I smiled with it, I felt it.
The theme of this playlist is feeling alright. I really felt alright listening to this playlist. I had experiences of transcendence. Some experiences of fun. Some experiences of overwhelm. I also had experiences of sorrow. I stepped into feeling all of it and I listened to this mix along the way. What I learned is feeling alright is a state of mind I create, not a result of the circumstances happening around me. Listen in. Dance, sit, write, breathe, make tea. Do it all and feel alright. I hope you love the music.
xx, Lisa-
