I want to get in shape. I want to lose weight. Yeah really? How many times have you said, “I want to lose weight?” Are you still saying it? If you are living in the same body and want it to change know this…
“Clarity is power”- Anthony Robbins
SO be clear. I want to lose weight.
Get specific. I want to lose 20 lbs.
Now get more specific. I want to lose 20 lbs and be comfortable running 3 miles without my knees bothering me from extra weight on my body.
Now get more clear. I want to lose 20 lbs and be comfortable running 3 miles without my knees bothering me. I want to wake up in the morning and smile when I catch the first glance of myself in the mirror. I want to slide into the jeans that are in the back of my closet that I haven’t been able to wear for years. I want to enjoy shopping for new clothes. I want to feel confident in my body and walk proudly because I look amazing.
- You will get what you ask for so be CLEAR.
- Stay connected to your desired weight loss and focused on the specifics of it.
- You will get what you are focused on and thinking about most of the time.
- Power is built on daily thoughts so be specific about your weight loss goals.
- Think about your weight often and positively.
- Visualize the # on the scale you want to see.
When you step on the scale and don’t see it, close your eyes for a moment and affirm it is on the way (this leads into the next piece of this post).
It is very important that you tally a list of reasons for wanting to lose weight and get in shape. Your reasons have to out-weigh the obstacles and challenges that you’re going to come up against. Obstacles like stepping on the scale after 2 weeks of effort and not losing any weight.
Listen it happens. You WILL lose weight if you keep moving forward.
However, as soon as you run out of reasons for wanting to lose weight, you are going to run out of motivation and quit.
So make a list now. Put it somewhere you can see it OFTEN.
Reasons for losing weight (I’ll help you get started…add your own powerful reasons too): easy movement, be around for my kids, grand-kids and great grand-kids, being active, feel great shopping, confidently wearing clothes, being able to compete in races, easier movement in my joints, enjoy getting dressed up and going out, more energy, feeling comfortable on the beach, being happy with my body, backwards aging (I feel better now than I did 5 years ago), bragging rights, ending body shame.
Now go out there and succeed. Above all you must believe you can do it. If you are looking for a little accountability for taking care of your body/mind/spirit health join me in my LIVE online bootcamp class, Piece Of Cake.
