For the next 25 days (while Amy’s campaign is going on) I’m doing my own 10-ish minute workouts in 25 Minneapolis outdoor locations. I invite you to join me.
WORKOUT ONE @ LAKE HARRIET
I parked by the rose gardens and headed down my favorite path in the bird sanctuary which ended up being flooded (eek!) The plastic pieces of the path were floating nebulously around in the highest swamp water I’ve ever seen. I had to make a quick change and get out or get soaked but as I scrambled outta there I saw a number of frogs, ducks, & even a flying fish (in swamp water?) that seemed very happy about all the recent flooding.
I traversed dryer ground to get to the playground and there I rocked out:
- 6 sets of 10 “box” jumps (onto a 3 1/2 foot wall)
- 3 sets of bridge hangs moving sideways (ended up with a few killer hand blisters from this one)
- 2 sets of monkey bars back and forth
- 3 sets of 20 push ups
- 3 hill sprints
All in all the ‘park’ portion took me about 12 minutes
I enjoyed my run back through the bird sanctuary and had some moments of quiet stillness and thoughts like “damn my legs are-a burn’in” but I felt REALLY good about the workout and also about the 25 day commitment I’ve made to support Amy’s Strong Inside Out Tour.
Verdict after day 1: sore with some scabby, oozing palms, but already feeling excited for day 2.
