Hey smartie,
April playlist of ‘Songs of the Day’ is now out and #trendingworldwide. Wait…what is trending worldwide?
And why does it matter.
I was curious this month watching a random video post about my (so-called) dating life sky rocket in views.
It made me think about what makes things popular or unpopular.
What is it about what we post, do, take pics of, say things about, pass on to others, that makes something go “viral”?
Two weekends ago I was in Utah leading an I AM Initiative event for girls and we were working on WHO WE ARE in the world, HOW WE FEEL in the world, and WHAT ACTION WE TAKE in the world.
When I teach these workshops it’s most important to me that I guide girls to listening to their own inner voice. It’s hard to do in this world when things are measured by likes/hearts/emojis/shares.
You gotta know YOUR move in every situation. Here’s what’s up. And I know my move. Your spirit will lead you to your move and I PROMISE…it isn’t copying someone else’s move. Create your own. And rock it.
My move? Having a song of the day. Yes I may listen to that song incessantly for the day, I may roll my window down and sing as loud as I can in my car, I may jump on the bed while air drumming out the beat, and I’ll share it on snapchat.
You may love it or hate it. You may bury it or share it. Doesn’t matter. It’s my move.
A few of my favorites from this month’s list:
Ink Slinger- Brooke Wagooner
This beat slayed me. I may have listened to this song for multiple days in a row on repeat. And after multiple listens I would find myself saying with a smirk “come on and make my day now”.
Just don’t let go, Just don’t- Hellogoodbye
This song is about a friend hanging on to you for dear life. No matter what. After I lost my friend last month (which I talked about in the March playlist) I’ve thought a lot about being alone and the people I have in my life who would never let go. I’ve got one. It’s my sister Kelley. I know there are so many others I can rely on, but when I’m about to let go, anytime/anywhere I know I can call on her. It’s important to have this ONE PERSON in your life. The one that’s always there at the end of your rope and won’t let you go. No matter what.
Street Fight- Smallpools
“Caught in a street fight? You need a life line. Go on and use me…I’ll be your Bruce Lee”. Need I say more about this song? I listened to it so MUCH! Like maybe way tooooo much.
Maybe the theme this month seems to be about searching out support and love. I get it. Sometimes we feel alone. I had those alone feeling moments in April. Music definitely helps me with this. But also, I know my move. No matter what. Alone or with others, I know I can turn on some jams and dance my heart out. Dancing. It’s my move.
I hope you make this playlist your move and love every song. Be sure to let me know what you enjoyed about it and what’s your move? We’ll all feel less alone when you share.
xx, Lisa-
