A Need For Validation

By LVA

they never loved you

waiting for your next words

your thoughts written

to make them feel better about their life

the one they weren’t really living

just scrolling

for a feeling

something to spark

excitement. engagement. emotions.

and did you love you

waiting for their likes

on your words written

to make you feel better about your life

the one you were living

so they could scroll

those feelings

excitement. engagement. emotions.

wanting to spark the same

thing for yourself

a like. a heart. a comment.

waiting for validation

from anyone other than yourself

you’re not good enough to do it on your own

not enough to love yourself

you need something else or someone else

to believe

you’re enough

and it’s a small tic on the screen

to make you mean something

a heart that says you matter

even though

they never loved you
